Game of Thrones

Hello,

So all my life I have advocated that I don't like fantasy books. I have never read Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit, and don't plan to, although I saw most of the movies (my husband loves it and I made him sit through "Eat, Love and Pray" so...I owe him big time!).

Three years ago, more or less, my husband suggested me "Game of Thrones". In the beginning I said no way but he convinced me and I am really glad he did, I LOVE IT! So much, that I have read the 5 books twice! I read on the net that G. Martin was almost finished with the 6th book ... naïve...and I wanted to have all the details fresh in my head so, I read them again.

My favourite characters from the beginning are Tyrion and Jon however, in the later book Jaime  became very interesting. I love the fact that G. Martin keeps twisting and surprising us with the character's stories. I also find the politics behind the "game of thrones" very interesting.

I have watched the first season of the TV series but didn't eally like it because i) too much sex (most of it not in the books); ii) the characters feel empty. In the books G. Martin develops deeply each character and you miss that in the TV series.

I know this is a delicate issue because

but seriously, when is the 6th book come out, the 5th ended in such a cliff-hanger!  G.Martin don't you go Robin Hobb on us!

For those who haven't read it, I highly recommend it, even if you are an assiduous viewer of the TV series.

And you? Are you also a fan of "Game of Thrones"? What other fantasy books, similar to GoT would you recommend?

Have a lovely day
