The Mindful project day #42
The feeling of accomplishment that comes from finishing up a project!
Today I finished my living-room curtains...finally!!! After a long process and a lot of mistakes (still green in sewing..)
If you like to sew but as me, you have little experience (don't let that stop you!), here are same advices:
- If you choose a printed fabric pay attention when cutting. If you are going to sew together different parts, the print has to be aligned. I didn't pay attention and that cost me a bit of fabric as I had to re-cut same of it.
- Between every step, IRON!!! Extremely important!!
- Take your time in doing the measurements and arranging the hems.
- Don't be frustrated by mistakes, most of the times you can fix it.
Initially, due to the extra cutting, the curtains were too small so after "googling" I found a solution without having to buy more printed fabric (which was not cheap in the first place!). I got same white fabric that went well with the print and added to the bottom. To disguise the "I ran out of fabric look", I also added a strip of my printed fabric. The grey pompons strip was to bring it together with the grey couch we have and the grey office-table that you can see from our living-room as the two spaces are connected.
And voila:
The addition turn out like this:
I am quite happy with the result as this were my first curtains ever!!
I hope this inspires you to sew specially if you are new to it, the message is don't be afraid and just do it!!
Today's thrifty-shop treasures:
This really cut small mirror with a silver frame and..
this ceramic vase that had a label saying "Potterie Peter Selhorst".
You can see from the inside and the bottom that is handmade:
After googling the name I ran into this webpage: http://www.capriolus.nl/nl/content/selhorst-peter so he was quite known which makes this finding a real treasure. Both pieces cost me 2 euros!!!

The calmness/relaxed feeling that comes from gardening!
As I don't have a garden I do "indoor-gardening"!! This Sunday I re-potted same plants that were in need.
I) Our basil plant that we keep in our kitchen window seal.
II) Two succulents that needed space and...
healthy soil!!
This one is full of fungus!!
Since our basil has been indoor all the time and we really don't have space in our herb pot (pic.) I just re-potted in a bigger vase
We got this really nice herb-pot from one of my husband's sisters (he has 3!!) and her boyfriend for our birthday/house warming party
And voila:
I added same gold-colored beads to the bottom because I wanted it to go with our coffee-table tray that me and my husband painted back in Sweden. The pattern was inspired by this beautiful tray made by the blogger from arte e manha (http://www.arteemanha.net/2012/08/tabuleiro-com-padrao-douradogolden.html?utm_source=BP_recent).
And voila:
The Mindful project day #44
That good energy/thrill that arises when you set yourself new goals in whatever aspect of your life!
Today is about craft-goals for "homemaking" and my two next goals are:
1) Finish knitting the pair of fluffy sleeping-socks I started back in the UK ( I mentioned in the post where I talked about knitting tools);
2) Patch-work for my bed;
Have a lovely day!!
